Look, the river is waving

One would say it’s illegal to go to Shanghai without seeing it’s breathtaking skyline. Imagine the prospect of being surrounded by buildings of all shapes like Shanghai’s popular Bund, and the heart of China’s financial center, Lijiazui Shanghai.

Believe it or not it is possible to experience the intoxicating beauty of eastern and western Shanghai by simply hopping into Huangpu River. Please do not actually jump into the River as it is actually illegal. Simply get on the very affordable 2RMB Ferry.  For those who prefer luxury, a River Cruise is your calling.
The ferry is an important mode of transportation for both office workers and local travelers. Those who are night owls, the ferries run late into the night. This way you avoid crowds and can truly appreciate the sleepless city of the east. The ferry may be the most economical option costing only 2RMB per trip.
Here is the daily schedule of the Ferry in case you miss it!

First ferry: 11:00
12:00   13:00   14:00   14:30   15:00   15:30   16:00   16:30   17:00   18:00   18:30   18:45  19:00   19:15   19:30   19:45   20:00   20:15     20:30   20:45   21:00   21:15
Last ferry: 21:30

A recommended route is the Dongfu Route, it starts from Dongchang Road and goes to East Fuxing Road. The travel time is approximately 5 minutes by food from Old Wharf to the starting point in Puxi.  This route you don’t just get exercise but also a treat for the eyes from the beautiful attractions from the Bund.

For all my luxurious friends, take a deluxe river cruise which cost vary starting from 100RMB. These cruises give you the scenery of the ferry but a more optimal experience as some offer a meal on board and a show. The length of the cruises may be 50-80 minutes.
